Yellow Wedding Invitations

Eugene Delacroix once said: “Everyone knows that yellow, orange, and red suggest ideas of joy and plenty. I can paint you the skin of Venus with mud, provided you let me surround it as I will” and I think he’s right. Yellow is an optimistic color, representing happiness and enlightenment; it stimulates the nervous system, the mental process and memory and encourages, take notice, communication. Like red, yellow is a color of the rainbow spectrum and is associated with feelings of greed in the Christian culture, jealousy in the French culture and sadness in Greek culture. Many countries see yellow as the symbol for liberalism. The ancient Aztecs associated this color with the Sun god and their main food, corn. In India, the Hindus wear yellow clothes when the Festival of Spring is celebrated and the Vaisya caste use yellow as the symbolic color. If we refer to the chakras, yellow is associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra, when it opens it increases the strength one feels and helps turning goals and dreams into reality.

In China, the founder of the Chinese civilization it is said to be Huangdi also known as the Yellow Emperor and in the Ming and Qing dynasties, yellow was the color used only by the emperors. In the same Chinese culture, yellow is associated with the center, as direction, and the earth. In Japan, during the “war of dynasty” which took place in 1357, as a pledge of courage warriors wore a yellow chrysanthemum. At a psychological level, yellow is regarded as the happiest color of the color spectrum. This should be reason enough to select for your wedding the yellow wedding invitations. What better way to express your joy, without describing it in words, than to use the color frequently regarded as the symbol of happiness.

These wedding invitations come in different sizes, shapes, patterns, designs and color combinations, so you don’t have to worry about what to choose. You can use yellow as the main color for the wedding invitation cards but if you think that using only this color will make your wedding invitations look too plain and simple, you can always add a certain pattern on it. The cheapest alternative for the hand written text is termography. If you have some money to spare I highly recommend the hand written calligraphy because it will give a classic and elegant look to the wedding invitations but thermography, with its raised letter effect is always an option. I suggest using black or purple ink to write the text because it will create an interesting contrast; even in gardens, the complimentary color for yellow flowers is purple. You can always follow the wedding invitations wording etiquette, but you can probably get away faster only be using these tips: write the name of the wedding hosts only if you want to, your guests have to know to who’s wedding they are invited so write the names of the bride, the groom and their parents, add the exact time, date and location of the wedding. Let your guests know is if there is an after-party or reception to follow after the religious ceremony or if you are waiting for an attendance response by adding a simple RSVP.

There are two choices of sending the wedding cards: in a double envelope or a single one, and by using the express mail, if you have little time on your hands, or by mailing them with about ten, eight or minimum six weeks in advance. You can consider sending them a ‘save the date’ wedding card right after you know exactly the details of your wedding but these cards won’t replace the formal wedding invitations. I also recommend to match the color or design of your wedding invitations with the theme of the wedding: you can choose yellow dresses for your bridesmaids, you can also select for yellow flower arrangements to decorate the wedding hall, and why not, if yellow is your favorite color, it isn’t against the law to wear a pale yellow wedding dress or gown. The important thing is to fuel your happiness with whatever you desire and expect the most from this special day.
