Wording And Verses For Wedding Invitations
Even if you use as reference the formal wording etiquette or you just prefer the less conventional form of addressing the wedding invitations, the basic information about the wedding ceremony should always be mentioned: the first names written on the wedding invitation are that of the wedding hosts; the name of the bride, which is written first, and the name of the groom, their parents names, the exact date, time and location of the wedding. When the location is not known by your guests you could include some directional details about it but also let your guests know if you’re having a themed wedding party or if reception will follow afterward.
Below are some wording examples.
If the bride’s parents are the hosts, one wording example would be: “ Mr. and Mrs. John Gold, invite you to join them in a celebration of love, as their daughter, Jennifer Gold, is united in marriage to Mr. Simon Silver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Silver, on Sunday, the sixth of July, two thousand and ten, at five o’clock in the evening, St. John’s Church, Los Angeles, California. Continue the celebration at the reception following the ceremony”.

If the hosts are the bride and groom, the wording should look like this: ”Jennifer Gold and Simon Silver request the honour of your presence at their marriage, on Sunday, the sixth of July, two thousand and ten, at five o’clock in the evening, St. John’s Church, Los Angeles, California. Reception to follow after the ceremony”.
In case the hosts are both the bride and groom and also their families, on the invitation you should write: “Jennifer Gold and Simon Silver, together with their families, invite you to join them in celebrating their marriage on Sunday, the sixth of July, two thousand and ten, at five o’clock in the evening, St. John’s Church, Los Angeles, California”.
Always add an RSVP if you are waiting for an attendance response.

For a personal touch, you can always start the wedding invitation with some poetry lines, favorite quotes or verses. Below are some examples you can make use of.
A Mayan wedding poem:
“I know not if the voice of man can reach to the sky,
I know not if the god’s will hear if I pray,
I know not if the gifts I have will all be granted,
I know not what will come to pass in future days,
But I hope only good will come from my love to you.”
Wild Nights by Emily Dickinson
”Wild nights. Wild nights!
Were I with thee,
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!
Futile the winds
To a heart in port
Done with the compass
Done with the chart.
Rowing in Eden.
Ah, the sea.
Might I but moor
Tonight with thee!”
When Two People Are One by the I Ching
”When two people are at one
in their inmost hearts
They shatter even the strength of iron
or of bronze
And when two people understand each other
in their inmost hearts
Their words are sweet and strong
like the fragrance of orchids.”
A White Rose by John Boyle O’Reilly
”The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
Oh, the rd rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.
But I send you a cream-white rosebud,
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest,
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.”
I Am Sure Of You by Amelia Josephine Burr
”I am not sure that Earth is round
Nor that the sky is really blue.
The tale of why the apples fall
May or may not be true.
I do not know what makes the tides
Nor what tomorrow’s world may do.
But I have certainty enough
For I am sure of you.”
The merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
“One half of me is yours, the other half yours-
Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours,
And so all yours!”
