Wedding Reception Invitation Wording
We all know that the purpose of the wedding invitations is to announce our long-awaited wedding day, but there are some things you need to know about them before you start searching for the right one to match with your traditional or themed wedding.
You would probably find it very difficult to choose only one design for your wedding just because they come in a wide variety of patterns, colors or color combinations, sizes, shapes.
The wedding invitation can either be hand-written, being quite an expensive option, printed or engraved; thermography with its beautiful raised letter effect is the most popular method of printing the invitations because it is cheap and fast. The intricate calligraphy makes a wedding invitation look more special so you have the option of choosing from a vast number of letter fonts available.

The invitation should contain pertinent information about the wedding, either if we are talking about the traditional or informal language: the name of the bride and the name of the groom, the names of the wedding hosts could be mentioned or not, it’s up to the preferences of the future married couple.
Other informational details are about the location of the wedding ceremony, sometimes you can add a printed map with some directional signs, the date and the time. You might as well add information about the after-party or reception or just give to your invited guests some hints about what they should expect from the whole wedding party. If the attendance responses are needed add the RSVP on the invitation card, at the bottom, or on a separate one, usually known as a reply card.

Before sealing the invitations in their single or double envelopes, make sure to read the written text with fresh eyes to spot some spelling mistakes or addressing errors that might cause some future embarrassments. Try to mail the wedding invitations on recommended time, usually being with minimum six to eight weeks in advance, before the actual wedding day.
The above tips are the general information you need to know about the wedding but the main subject of this article is the wording for the wedding receptions. A reception is a party held after the wedding ceremony, with dinner or cocktails, so in most cases, details about this after-party are written on the wedding invitation. As an extra information, the couple can give a hint about the theme of their wedding or make a suggestion about how should their guests dress for that themed party.
Below you may find some wording examples for the reception.
“Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hawkins request the pleasure of your company at the wedding luncheon following the ceremony at The Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
“Reception and Dinner immediately following ceremony, the Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
“We invite you to share with us our joy at the Reception immediately following the ceremony, the Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
“Adult reception following the ceremony at the Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
“To help us celebrate, please join us for the Reception immediately following the ceremony at the Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
“Cocktails served at 6:30 p.m., dinner served at 7:30 p.m., dancing until midnight. The Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
“The pleasure of your company is requested at the Reception immediately following the ceremony, at the Hollow Hotel, Manhattan, New York City.”
The examples are numerous and you might as well be creative and issue the invitations using your own words. Might sound like a cruelty but the groom’s only job will be to agree with whatever the bride decides.
