Wedding Invitations Wording

Wedding invitations are not only attractive letters announcing a marriage, but the result of a prolonged thinking and difficult labour. It’s not easy to give your guests the perfect invitation to your wedding. You have to be aware of the fact that little details matter enormously. To be sure that you start right, learn the secrets of wedding invitations wording.

At the first glance on your wedding invitations, the guests have to learn who is hosting the event. Regarding the couple, first the bride is mentioned, with her first name only. Then comes the groom. Specify clearly date and time. The people you invite will be interested in any information about location of ceremony and the party planned after. You should include in your invitations a reply card, so guests will be able to confirm presence and number. Indicate a certain date by which you expect their answer.

You also have to respect some important rules when addressing your guests. If they have professional titles, such as lawyer, doctor or engineers, address them so. Forget about the old and dusty Mr. and Mrs. Use in your invitation cars their full names and avoid the abbreviations. You don't need to capitalize the first letters of the lines, only if that word is a proper noun. If you decided that children are not invited, than indicate this thing in the card, by writing that it would be an “Adult Reception”. Information about the way people should dress is also very important. A black tie on the cards will indicate them that you are organizing a formal event, and they will dress up so. If you want a destination wedding, don't forget to specify information about the location. A good idea is to include in the wedding invitations a brochure containing the main hotels in the area.

In spite of the fact you have rules to follow in wedding invitations wording, you can do it in an original way. The cards can be a mirror of your personality and a special way to express your feelings towards the people you want to invite.

If you go for a formal wedding, than you should choose a standard wording. Here you have an example:
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith

request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Jane Alice

to
John Madison
at the White Club
Saturday, the Second of May
Eight o'clock in the evening

Non-traditional is the key-word for your wedding? If the answer is yes, feel free to improvise when it comes about wording. Don't forget! You still have to be specific and include all the important details, no matter how original the text may sound. You have an example below:
We will be delighted if you join us
to celebrate love, friendship and family
as
Jane Alice Smith
and
John Madison
Join their hands in holy matrimony
Saturday, the 2nd of May
8 o'clock in the evening
at the White Club
