Wedding Invitation Wording

Wedding invitation wording may actually be more of an announcement. The hope and joy can be fully broadcast with the use of just the right words. In that case your wedding invitations may give your names and issue an invitation to the nuptials. On the other hand, it is also appropriate to state the names of your parents and issue the invitation on their behalf. That is another choice that is available.

Formal wedding invitations should follow proper wedding invitation etiquette. All invites, no matter if formal, casual or traditional or non-traditional should have the following included in them:
Bride’s and Groom’s full names (including middle names for formal invites)
Day and date of the wedding
The year should be written out on the next line following the date
Time of the wedding
Location of the wedding (formal wedding invitations usually just include the name of the church or building, while less formal or casual wedding invitations might also include the street address)
City and State (without including zip code)
On the other hand, you can be very creative with the rest of the wording. If you are having a non-traditional wedding, do not feel like you must follow all of the rules of an etiquette. You can add a favorite poem, scripture or verse and give a personal touch to the invites. There is a large variety of samples of wedding invitations and wedding invitation wording available online. Some couples choose to have blank invitation cards and print their own, others choose standard invitations that allow having their names inserted into the wording, and so to manage to personalize their invites.

Some other things you must think about when designing your wedding invitation wording are:
Who is doing the inviting (who is hosting the entire event)
If the Bride’s or Groom’s parents are deceased
If the Bride’s or Groom’s parents are divorced
If it is a second (or third or fourth) marriage
If the wedding is being held in a Church or at a Home or other non-church location

There are some examples of wedding invitation wording, that you can personalize with your own names and dates:
With joyous hearts
we invite you to attend
the wedding of
LaJune Nashea Hamilton
and
Donovan Ramond Williamson
Saturday, the twenty-fifth of April
Two thousand and ten
at five thirty in the evening
Venetian Terrace
215 Mandalay Canal
Arlington, Texas
Or
Because you have shared in
our lives
by your friendship and love we,
Nicole Bernadette Cypert
and
Nicholas Thomas Jacobson
together with our parents
invite you to share
the beginning of our new life together
when we exchange marriage vows
on Friday, the ninth of May
two thousand eleven
at five o’clock in the evening
Paradise Country Club
Madison, Wisconson
Or
The honor of your presence
is requested at the marriage of
Allysa Lauren Montgomery,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paul Montgomery
and
Bodie Todd Forseman
son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott B. Forseman
Sunday, the eleventh of August
Two thousand and eleven
at two o’clock in the afternoon
Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Etc.
After creating the wording of your wedding invitations, read them out loud, in order to figure, if that what you have written makes sense. Also check out the spelling and the grammar mistake and be careful not to go to informal with the wording. All you need is to be creative, inspired and to send the right message to your forthcoming attendants of your ceremony.
