Vineyard Wedding Invitations

The wedding invitations became popular several centuries ago, more precisely in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when the members of the aristocracy, especially the English and the French ones, used them as just another form of announcing a wedding that was celebrated with opulent dinners and parties. The themed wedding invitations, for example the vineyard themed invitations, were exclusively used by the people from the high societies and the royal houses because the people from lower social ranks were just too poor to adopt this custom of sending invitations.

Back in the Middle Ages almost all the population of Europe had no education, even the wealthy, so the invitations were issued out loud by a town crier. The people from lower social classes were just too uneducated or poor to send, write and read the wedding invitations so the private wedding ceremonies were verbalized and the news was spread only among family members or friends.

In the twentieth century the new printing techniques, the development of the postal services and since education was made available for all people, announcing an important event such as a wedding with the help of the hand written invitations no longer seemed to be an exclusive right practiced by the wealthy. And even if people were still too poor to afford buying and sending those invitations they also had the alternative of spreading the news about the marriage in a local or national newspaper.

As I’ve stated above, the simple and white wedding invitations were written by hand with and intricate calligraphy style and sometimes this applied only for the noble families because they had their family crest or coat of arms printed.

Since its discovery, termography replaced the expensive method of writing by hand the invitation text; this printing method with a beautiful raised pattern and letter effect is cheap and allows the fast mass production of unique or one-of-a-kind wedding invitations, especially the vineyard design wedding invitations.

Because of this mass production you may find an overwhelming number of internet sites specialized with the making and selling of the wedding invitations and not only. The online manufacturers offer various wedding invitation samples for viewing and you can purchase them at discounted prices.

Since the themed weddings have become increasingly popular it is only natural to match the selected theme with the design of the wedding invitation card; this is a simple method of giving your guests a hint about what they should expect from your wedding party. For examples, if a wedding is organized in a vineyard you can use the vineyard wedding invitations to indicate that such an important event is planned in taking place in such a location.

There is a large variety of wedding invitation designs and patterns because you can choose any color combination you would like, in any possible shape or size, folded or a single page, personalized with the couple’s photo or amusing by adding some cartoon characters or a caricature; you can be creative and test your artistic skills and dexterity by making the invitations yourself using some cheap paper materials and a pair of scissors and ribbons.

Shouldn’t surprise us that there is a strong wording etiquette for the wedding invitations; the formal wording style is generally recommended and you can find some examples all over the internet but the use of an informal or non-traditional language has its adepts and should definitely not be considered as an impolite form of addressing the invitations.

The informal language can be humorous and funny or you can simply add some favorite verses and quotes. The fact is, either by using the formal or informal wording styles, never forget to write the basic information about your wedding: the name of the couple, the location of ceremony and reception or after-party and the address, the time and date, the names of the wedding hosts, the RSVP or the expression “Regrets only” and a phone number for contact.

The RSVP is added if the couple requests from their guests an attendance response but the saying “Regrets only” is added only if they are waiting only for the non-attendance replies.

Usually the wedding invitations are to be mailed out so that the attendance response will be received just in time to make the final arrangements for the wedding and that recommended time is of about minimum six weeks before the actual wedding day.

The wedding invitations are then sealed in their single or classic double envelope, but not before checking again for any spelling mistakes, wrong addressing forms or honorifics.
