Pochette Wedding Invitations
Yes, that’s right: we have first ventured into the selection of the theme, as simple as this thing may sound it is by far the easiest to be considered. Because choosing a them involves a lot of other adjacent aspects: the location of the wedding event, the wedding gown, my attire, the flowers and last but not at all the least the choice of wedding invitations. My best friend’s idea in regard to the wedding theme was that of a French themed wedding; by the way, she is a fan of French culture, fashion, and everything that relates to their cuisine as well. So, she planned on having everything that is included in her wedding celebration in the French style. She was imagining even her wedding cake being topped with the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower next to the silhouettes of bride and groom.

She asked her fiancé if he agreed with her idea of a theme and getting his acceptance, here we were browsing for the wedding cards that should in a way or another announce the guests in an authentic French manner. While launching ourselves in this strenuous quest we coma across a French term connected to the wedding card type: pochette wedding invitations. The name suddenly rang a bell to me and since “pochette” is the French word for woman’s bag or purse, as far as I knew, I told her that she could have her cards designed in this way.
At first she didn’t get my picture but after I had sketched her my idea on one blank page of one of the computer’s drawing programs, she showed herself pretty interested in the manner I was going to have these pochette wedding invitations designed. So, my plan was to buy some brocade paper and have it cut in the shape of a rectangular purse glued on card stocks to make it stand firmer dividing it in pockets to hold the wedding card, the RSPV in a self-addressed envelope and the driving instructions as well.

Not to mention that my friend’s name together with her fiancé’s were also a source of inspiration: Louise and Vale – these names would give the same initials as in Louis Vuitton – the famous French designers for purses and not only. Therefore I proposed her to have something like a label of their own initials as decorative label of their pursed wedding invitations. And as the final touch, the card should be also provided with a handle made out of plaited satin ribbon that has the color of one of the many included in the traditional coloring of a brocade pattern – this should definitely resemble the card to that of a French pochette ready to hold the surprise-message of my friend’s wedding celebration.
