Pink Wedding Invitations

Pink is a color often associated with youth, happiness or joy and has a soothing effect, while bright pinks can increase the blood pressure, the heartbeat and respiration and stimulate energy. By combining red, the color of passion, with the pure white color, we obtain different shades of pink.

Pink is as sensual as red but can also be associated with innocence, reminding us of our bright childhood days. Pink can cool down any aggressive emotions, and as a fact, in prisons this color is used with the sole purpose of reducing and stopping any erratic behavior. The pink triangle is a symbol used to represent bisexuals, gays and lesbians and the popular pink ribbon is an international symbol of awareness and hope in the fighting against breast cancer.

In some cultures like the Japanese culture, pink is masculine symbol and a legend says that the Sakura or the pink cherry blossom trees represent the young warriors or the samurais who sacrificed their lives in battles. Strangely enough, in China the pink color was introduced by the westerners when they first set foot on Chinese territory so the name of this color is translated as “foreign color” because they did not recognize it until then. The “hot pink”, or magenta as it is known today, was introduced in fashion by the famous designer Elsa Schiaparelli, in 1947.  I am sure that for all the ladies out there or for most of them, pink would be the first option when thinking about dresses and accessories. So why should they think differently when talking about organizing a wedding. It is not uncommon to choose pink dresses for the bridesmaids, since the customs demands that the bride herself has to wear a white gown.

And if pink is the theme color of the wedding I suggest of selecting also pink wedding invitations. All shades of pink are welcomed, but you can find different combinations of shapes, sizes and patterns for sale on the internet. Think about the wedding budget first. You could make them yourself if time and inspiration are by your side, but with all the pink wedding invitations options available on the market I think you can find something inexpensive but beautiful. The text could be written by hand with black ink or the cheaper alternative: choose for the raised letter printing method or engraving. The wording etiquette is less strict nowadays, so you can either use a formal way of addressing the wedding invitation or a less conventional one, by adding some favorite quotes, verses and even poems if you have enough space on the invitation card.

The wedding invitation should contain information about the future wedding ceremony: the name of the wedding hosts, in most cases being the bride’s parents, the name of the bride and groom and their families, the date, time and location of the ceremony, with some details like directional signs, a map of the wedding location, if the wedding has a theme and if the guests have to wear something different from the normal outfit, or if there is an after-party or reception to follow after the religious ceremony. Add the RSVP if you find it necessary and mail the wedding invitations in a pink double envelope or a single one. The hand addressed envelope is regarded as a sign of respect for guests so consider this tip as very important. Pink is a gentle color so it would make a perfect choice for your wedding invitations; even Franz Liszt once said: “More pink here, if you please”.
