Luxury Wedding Invitations

The new technological inventions allowed the mass production of beautiful and special but also luxury designs for the wedding invitations, made of all sorts of materials not only paper. And who would’ve though that these wedding invitations can easily be replaced with the use of digital ones, sent via the Internet and e-mail. Of course, the simple wedding invitations on paper cards still remain as popular as they can possibly be but the digital alternative also has its adepts.

The custom of sending the wedding invitations in the double envelope is a special is several centuries old and its roots can be traced in Europe, when the aristocracies and the royal houses used these invitations to announce their marvelous wedding parties, celebrated with great pomp. Usually the wedding invitations reached their destination after weeks of traveling, and since the conditions were not so permissive, the courier had to protect them from any scratches and dirt by using a double envelope, the outer one being removed afterwards. In the honor of those times, the classic double envelope is still being used.

It is mandatory to send these special, luxury wedding invitations in a proper period of time, let’s say of minimum eight to six weeks before the actual wedding day, especially if you have requested an attendance response. There is also the option of sending the ‘save the date’ invitation cards, which do not replace the formal wedding invitations but simply act as reminders for your guests to give an attendance or non-attendance response by a certain mentioned date.

The other necessary information about the wedding is about the main couple and more precisely their names, the names of the wedding hosts, usually being responsible with the issuing of the invitations, and the name and address of the ceremony and/or reception location, the time and date and if the RSVP was not mentioned beforehead in the ‘save the date’ invitations you can add it on the invitations card in the form of a phone number or address for contact or be mentioned on a separate card, with a return address included.

Make sure to read again the written information about the wedding to spot any errors in using the correct honorifics and addressing forms or any other spelling mistake for that matter but be even more careful to the written information about the wedding ceremony, such as the name of the location, the date and the time; you can also add on the invitations a printed map and some directional signs if the place is unfamiliar.

The theme of the weddings is usually used as inspiration source for the unique and luxury, custom made wedding invitation designs although you can directly purchase those wedding invitations, of unique patterns and color combinations, sizes or shapes, from online manufactures and their specialized wedding invitations internet sites. On the internet you can find a wide variety of outstanding designs but you can also use these designs as inspiration to make the invitations yourself, which should not be such a hard task if the number of guests is limited and if you have the necessary time and patience for such an artistic activity.

In the past the wedding invitations were written only by hand, using different but intricate calligraphy styles to make them look special, but today we have printing technologies such as thermography, with its specific raised letter effect; the hand written text is an expensive method nowadays but is still popular.

You can personalize both formal wedding invitations and ‘save the date’ invitations but the main difference between the two of them has to be the wording style used in issuing them. For example, for the ‘save the date’ invitations you can be inventive with words and use whatever addressing style you want but for the formal wedding invitations the wording etiquette usually demands the use of a traditional wording style or you have the alternative of issuing the invitation in a personal wording style but the basic information about the wedding should always be written so that your guests can actually understand if the ceremony is followed immediately by a reception or if the ceremony is private and they are invited only to the reception.
