Invitation Wording For Both Parents Hosting A Wedding

In this era of increased technological development, the wedding invitations still seem like the best method of announcing the wedding day. The custom of sending wedding invitations was made popular in the past by members of the high society but it was soon adopted by people from all social ranks.

The simple and classical white wedding invitation has evolved into the modern and colorful wedding invitation card; these cards come in a large variety of color combinations, designs and patterns to match with a certain theme selected for your wedding party, shapes and sizes, and most of all, perfect for your wedding budget.

The wedding invitations can be directly bought from online manufacturers and you will also be given the alternative to choose for some personalized cards just to make them look unique or one-of-a-kind.

The text of the invitation can be written with different ink colors but make sure that the selected color is in contrast with the predominant colors of the invitation card.

Thermography with its raised letter effect remains the cheapest and fastest method of writing the wedding invitations; if your wedding budget allows it then I suggest opting for the hand written invitation. The calligraphy used for writing such invitations is intricate and gives a certain traditional and classical feeling to this whole process of sending and receiving the wedding invitations. This feeling can also be achieved by using the thermography method but only if you select some old letter fonts or a classy calligraphy style.

The wording etiquette demands the use of formal language to issue the wedding invitations; only the necessary and basic information about the wedding ceremony or reception should be mentioned: the names of the bride and groom, the name of the wedding hosts, the location of the wedding, the date and the time.

In normal circumstances the parents of the bride act as the wedding hosts but nowadays the couple can decide to finance their wedding with their own money. For the situation when both parents are hosting the wedding, below you may find some of the most common wording examples.

“Mr. and Mrs. Simon Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Steinberg request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children Lucille Johnson and Richard Steinberg as they happily unite their hearts, their lives and their cultures through marriage on Friday, the seventh of October, two thousand eleven, at six o’clock in the evening, St. John’s  Cathedral, New Orleans, Louisiana.”

“In the celebration of love, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Steinberg, invite you to share in their joy of the marriage uniting their lovely children, Lucille Johnson  and Richard Steinberg, on Friday, the seventh of October, two thousand eleven, at sixo’clock in the evening, St. John’s Cathedral, New Orleans, Louisiana. Reception immediately following the ceremony at the Sunset Club.”

“The Johnson and the Steinberg family invite you to share in the joy of the marriage uniting their children, Lucille Johnson and Richard Steinberg, on Friday, the seventh of October, two thousand eleven, at six o’clock in the evening, St. John’s Cathedral, New Orleans, Louisiana. Reception immediately following the ceremony.”

“The families of Lucille Johnson and Richard Steinberg invite you to join in the celebration of their marriage on Friday, the seventh of October, two thousand eleven, at six o’clock in the evening, St. John’s Cathedral, New Orleans, Louisiana. Reception to follow the ceremony.”

The alternative to the formal wording is the use of a non-traditional language which basically means that you can issue the inviting by using your own addressing form or language. You can also add some favorite quotes or verses but make sure that there aren’t any spelling mistakes or wrong uses of honorifics because they are to be blamed for some future embarrassments with your guests.

Remember to send these invitations with eight to ten weeks in advance, before the actual wedding day, especially if you are expecting for some attendance responses.

Another important thing to remember is that the wording for the wedding invitation can be exactly as you want it to be because it is your wedding we are talking about, but to make this whole process of writing the invitations easier, below you may find some examples, just perfect to make things more understandable.
