Butterfly Wedding Invitations
The definition of the butterfly is a day-flying insect with large wings often with bright colors and a conspicuous flight, included in the Lepidoptera order.
Every culture from this world gives and important significance to this creature, some see the butterflies as a bad omen and some as bringers of good fortune.
For example in China, when two butterflies are flying together they symbolize love and let us not forget about the story told by Zhuangzi, the famous Taoist philosopher, asking himself, after having a dream: “Was I before a man who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being a man?”
In Ancient Greece, the word for butterfly was psyche, which can also be translated as “mind” or “soul”.
In Japan, a famous superstition is that when a butterfly comes in your guestrooms then the person whom you love will come to greet you, but this creature can also be seen as a personification of the human soul, whether he or she is alive, dying or dead.
In other old cultures the butterflies are the symbol of rebirth, after a long period of time trapped inside a cocoon.

This last symbol is reason enough why one should choose for a butterfly wedding invitation for their wedding and also because their beauty is so inspiring.
Strangely enough, women tend to fear insects of all kind but the butterfly is the great exception so it would be just perfect to use a butterfly pattern or design for your wedding invitation. And if you are having a butterfly theme wedding you can also add a personal touch to your wedding invitations by adding a butterfly poem or a quote.
Below are some examples you can always use.
An Indian Butterfly Legend says:
”If anyone desires a wish to come true they must
capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.
Since they make no sound, they can’t tell the wish
to anyone but the Great Spirit.
So by making the wish and releasing the butterfly
it will be taken to the heavens and be granted.”
An Irish Blessing goes like this:
”May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun.
And find your shoulder to light on.
To bring you luck, happiness and riches.
Today, tomorrow and beyond.”
As for the wording etiquette, you can always choose between the formal way of addressing to your guests or the less conventional one, with plain and simple spelling.

The information on the card should contain details such as the location, the exact date and time of the wedding ceremony and the names of the bride and groom and their parents; if you are waiting for a wedding attendance response, at the bottom of the wedding invitation you could write R.S.V.P.
Here is a sample of wording you can use for your butterfly wedding invitations:
“Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and it pleases wherever it goes.
Love is like a butterfly, hold it too tight, it’ll crush, hold it too loose, it’ll fly.

The text on the wedding invitation could either be hand written, but it would be more costly, or you can just use a simple printed or engraved text. I suggest to order the wedding invitations online because on the internet you can find a wide variety and some unique, one of a kind butterfly designs. The choices are up to you and your partner.
